Crowning Dreams: From Medicine to Mrs. India

They say a woman can do it all – but who knew I’d actually try? From wielding a stethoscope to donning a crown, life has taken me on an unpredictable yet fulfilling journey.
It all started in the hallowed halls of Sacred Heart Matriculation School, Church Park, where celebrity kids and regular students like me were treated with equal doses of affection and discipline. I was an average student, but my passion for table tennis and volleyball kept me on my toes – quite literally. Fast forward a few years, and I found myself in a white coat, graduating from PSG Medical College, Coimbatore, before diving into radiology at KMC, Chennai.
For years, my world revolved around my daughter, my patients, and hospitals. Running my own diagnostic centre in Tambaram and consulting at leading hospitals, I found immense satisfaction in healing others. But when my daughter got married, I suddenly found myself with a rare and unfamiliar luxury – free time.
And what did I do with it? I dusted off my long-lost passions and went all in! Acting, modelling, cooking competitions – you name it. In 2013, I took a leap and won the Mrs. Chennai title, which not only gave me a crown but also the confidence to explore new opportunities. Before I knew it, I was in a Superstar’s movie (yes, THE Superstar!), starring in two ads, and realized – why stop now?
But life isn’t just about chasing personal glory. That’s when Rotary entered my life through the Rotary Club of Chennai KK Nagar, and everything changed. As a doctor, I was used to being put on a pedestal, but in Rotary, everyone stands as equals. It felt liberating to serve, learn, and grow with like-minded people.
Then came another milestone – winning Mrs India World in 2018, a title that led me to a cause close to my heart: breast cancer awareness. Since then, I’ve used my voice to spread awareness across Tamil Nadu, making a difference beyond the hospital walls.
Today, I keep checking off my bucket list, proving that a woman can be anything she wants to be – a doctor, a mother, a queen, an activist, or all at once! My motto? Live life with a smile and share happiness wherever you go.
Because when you empower yourself, you empower the world.
