When Love Meets Action: A Valentine’s Day Reflection

When Love Meets Action: A Valentine’s Day Reflection

Valentine’s Day is often synonymous with roses, chocolates, and grand romantic gestures. But for me, love extends beyond personal relationships – it is the foundation of compassion, service, and inclusivity.

As a retired banker and Managing Trustee of Grace Trust Chennai, I’ve dedicated my life to serving less privileged and differently-abled communities. Whether supporting tribal families, fostering education in rural areas, or championing livelihood programs for marginalized groups, my journey has been fuelled by a deep belief in the power of love to transform lives.

Love in social service is not about grand gestures – it is about recognizing the dignity and worth of every individual. It’s about small but meaningful acts: ensuring access to education, providing opportunities for self-reliance, or simply being present for someone in need.

Through Rotary, especially as Secretary of the Rotary Club of Madras North and President Elect for 2025-26, I’ve witnessed the immense power of collective love in action. Whether it’s organizing COVID relief efforts or empowering women and youth, these moments reaffirm my faith in humanity’s capacity for kindness.

Over the years, I’ve been deeply honoured to receive awards such as the Parivu Kalam Award (2017), Wonder Woman Award (2019), Femina Tamil Covid Warrior Award (2021), and many more, including recognition for my work during the COVID-19 lockdown. These accolades remind me that love, when channelled into action, creates ripples of change that touch countless lives.

As a Reiki Master, I believe healing energy flows where love exists. Valentine’s Day reminds us that love, in its purest form, is limitless – it bridges gaps, heals wounds, and builds inclusive societies.

This Valentine’s Day, let us honour those who serve selflessly and recommit ourselves to spreading love through action. After all, when we serve with love, we leave the world – and our own hearts – a little brighter.

Happy Valentine’s Day
